NO, Wealthy Affiliate isn’t a scam! Wealthy Affiliate doesn’t trick people into spending money. Instead it allows people to try out the platform for free. The free Starter Membership provides basic training that covers many aspects of operating an online business.
It covers topics such as affiliate marketing, SEO, site building, niche research, and keyword research. The membership also includes limited access for the first 7 days to Live Chat, and community support.
The Premium Membership package as presented in the table above, tells you upfront exactly what you will get for your money. 2. As a free Wealthy Affiliate Starter member, you get some basic training which will help you to set up the rudimentary format of your website. If you want a professional looking website, the downside to having a free website is that you are left to figure this out for yourself.
3. Another issue with the free membership was that the free websites through SiteRubix were limited. You can’t add or activate more than the two widgets that Wealthy Affiliate provides. This is despite the fact that WordPress provides many free widgets.
4. Furthermore, because you don’t own your own domain name you can’t fully monetize your website with products such as Google AdSense.
5. As a free member, your access to Live Chat and to the community is limited to 7 days. I found this to be restrictive as most of the questions I had were towards the end of this period. Sometimes i found that different members will give you conflicting advice.
6. When you sign up as a Premium member, you get 25 free websites with secure hosting and you could host up to another 25 paid sites. This is a great offer! However, people who are not very good at writing content, will find having more than one website will be extremely challenging.
7. Lastly, if you do decide to upgrade to a Premium membership, you CANNOT return back to the free Starter membership.
To Sum Up:
One of the best things I found with Wealthy Affiliate is that it offers Starter members 2 free websites as well as a free training program. This allows you to “try before you buy”. The advantage of this is that it enables you to know exactly what to expect before you spend any money. There is no time limit on how long you can remain a free Starter member. No one will harass you to upgrade to a premium membership and no one will ask you for your credit card number either.
In order to succeed and make money from your website, you need to write good, original content that is interesting to a niche market that isn’t overly competitive. This is a great write-up about Wealthy Affiliate! I think the people who claim it’s a scam are those who don’t take the time to fully understand what it’s really about and how affiliate marketing works, so it’s great that you’ve clarified this for everyone who is interested in working from home.
I think the other people who do take the time to learn about affiliate marketing and even take the time to get started have unrealistic expectations about earning and they give up before they have enough time under their belt.
